to care for your Hat and Ponytail Hair
DO NOT USE A CLOTHES DRYER, HAIR DRYER, BLOW DRYER, OR CURLING
IRON. Avoid excess heat. Sudden bursts of heat, such as
opening an oven door, could damage your ponytail.
How to care for your Hat
Spot Wash
To preserve your hat it is best to spot wash with mild
detergent as needed, rinse with luke warm to cold
water (DO NOT use hot water). Be sure to first test
your detergent to make sure it will not discolor your
hat. Select an area on the hat that is not as visible
for testing.
Air dry, you can use a hat rack to maintain shape.
How to care for your Ponytail Hair
Shampooing
The best care is to wash your ponytail if it starts to
acquire an odor, or if it starts to look dull. Fill your
sink with lukewarm to cold water (DO NOT use hot water).
Add a capful of Shampoo, specially formulated for synthetic
hair, to the water. (Human hair products can change the
texture of synthetic fiber!) Soak for about 3 minutes, gently
swish up and down for a thorough wash. (DO NOT Rub). Rinse
hair in cold water, until entire shampoo residue is gone.
Conditioning
Pat out excess water on soft towel. (DO NOT squeeze or twist.)
Using a Leave-In Spray Conditioner, specially formulated
for synthetic hair, lightly spray the entire piece while
it is wet to bring back the original softness and sheen
to hair.
Drying
After removing excess water by patting on a towel, allow
to dry at room temperature by draping Ponytail Hat over
a wig stand to allow air circulation. NEVER dry your Ponytail
Hat on a solid headstand or block, as it will stretch the
cap. Avoid direct sunlight or any heat source while
drying.
Styling
After your ponytail is completely dry, shake it to loosen
hair. Spray ponytail with a light mist of water or revitalizing
mist and shake out. (be careful to not tangle, especially
if you have purchased our Curly Style Ponytail Hat.) Our
unique design will help most ponytails maintain their original
shape. Styling products, specially formulated for synthetic
hair, will help to finish the style. Comb or finger style
to bring back the original beauty of your piece. (DO NOT
brush or comb curly ponytails.) Use fingers to lift and
shape curls. Use Synthetic Hair Spray if desired. Ponytails
may be cut to change length or to alternate style. It is
recommended to have your ponytail cut by a professional
hair stylist.
Dealing with Tangles
Some of the longer ponytail styles could become tangled
or matted at the ends due to the constant friction between
the synthetic hair and your clothing. You will still get
plenty of use and wear from your Ponytail Hat before this
starts to happen, but the proper care is very important.
Improper and/or vigorous brushing may damage the ponytail
beyond repair. Generously, spray water on the affected area.
Start combing tips of hair first, taking longer lengths
of hair with each stroke to detangle. Use a synthetic detangling
spray or leave in conditioner if desired.
Storage
Store your Inspired By You™ Ponytail Hat in
the original shipping box at room temperature. You can purchase
a cap stand or mannequin head to place your Ponytail Hat
on when you are not wearing it.
